Scare Away Hunger in McKinney!
As partners through 3e McKinney, we desire to be a group of people so impacted by Christ's love that we are engaging with those around us, being Christ's hands and feet as we demonstrate the difference He has made in our lives. One way to do this is by showing compassion for those in our community who don't have the basic necessity of food.
In Collin County (one of the most affluent areas in Texas), more than 8 percent of children (more than 65,000) live in poverty. The poverty line is defined as a family of four living on less than $22,050. (census data)
The need for food assistance is a harsh reality in our own neighboorhoods. This is why we are taking steps to 'Scare Away Hunger'.
St. Gabriel Youth are challenged to go into their neighborhoods and collect food for the Community Food Pantry. We hope all the youth will bring in at least 10 15oz cans of fruits and vegetables for a total of 4,000 cans for the food pantry.
